Colossians 2:6–7

Let’s commit to deepening our roots in Christ.
Rooted in Faith, Growing in Grace
As we step into the month of March, we are reminded of the incredible journey our church has been on. This month holds special significance as we celebrate our anniversary on March 9, marking another year of God’s faithfulness and grace in our midst. It’s a time to reflect on where we’ve come from, where we are, and where God is leading us.
The apostle Paul writes in Colossians 2:6–7, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” These words are a beautiful reminder of what it means to be a thriving, Christ-centred community.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Col 2:6-7)
Rooted in Christ
Just as a tree draws its strength and nourishment from its roots, our lives as believers are sustained by our connection to Christ. Over the years, our church has been anchored in the truth of the Gospel, and it is this foundation that has carried us through seasons of joy, challenge, and growth. As we celebrate our anniversary, let’s take a moment to thank God for the firm foundation He has given us in His Word and in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Built Up in Him
Being rooted in Christ is just the beginning. Paul encourages us to be “built up in him.” This means that our faith is not static; it is meant to grow, deepen, and mature. Think about the ways God has shaped you personally and collectively as a church over the past year. Perhaps it’s through answered prayers, moments of worship, or even trials that drew you closer to Him. Every experience is an opportunity to be built up in Christ, becoming more like Him in character and purpose.
Strengthened in Faith
The Christian journey is not always easy, but we are reminded that our faith is strengthened as we remain in Christ. Just as a tree’s roots grow deeper during a storm, our faith is often strengthened in life’s challenges. Let’s encourage one another to hold fast to the promises of God, knowing that He is with us in every season.
Overflowing with Thankfulness
Finally, Paul calls us to be “overflowing with thankfulness.” Gratitude is a hallmark of a heart that is rooted in Christ. As we reflect on God’s faithfulness to our church, let’s take time to count our blessings—big and small. Whether it’s the relationships we’ve built, the lives that have been transformed, or the ways God has provided, there is so much to be thankful for.
This week, let’s commit to deepening our roots in Christ. Spend time in prayer, reflect on His Word, and express gratitude for His work in your life and in our church. As we do this, we will not only grow individually but also as a community, shining the light of Christ to those around us.
May this month be a time of celebration, reflection, and renewed commitment to living lives rooted in faith and growing in grace.
