ACTS 1:4-5, 12-14
So stay. Pray. Trust. Be ready.
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about… you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (vv.4–5)… “They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women… and with his brothers” (v.14).
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4-5)
Waiting is hard. When nothing seems to be happening, we assume nothing is happening. So we drift. We distract ourselves. We disengage. But what if waiting is not empty, but essential?
After the resurrection, before Pentecost, the disciples waited. But they didn’t wait passively, they waited with purpose. They watched with expectation. Jesus had promised power, and they held onto that promise. They weren’t guessing, they were trusting. They abided in unity. Acts tells us they were together constantly in prayer. Revival often comes not to isolated individuals, but to united people.
They interceded persistently. Not casually, not occasionally but continually. They sought God with hunger. And they trusted God’s timing. Because God is never late. Like seeds underground, unseen growth is happening even when nothing appears to change.
So how do we wait well?
Remain in prayer. Engage in fellowship. Anticipate God’s movement. Detach from distractions. Yield to the Spirit. Be READY.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, don’t waste your waiting. What if your breakthrough is around the corner? What if God is preparing something greater than you can see just beyond this season?
So stay. Pray. Trust. Be ready. Because, like the disciples, those who wait well will be ready when the power falls. God bless you!
