A choir declares God’s revelation and manifestation through its praises

It is written in 1 Chronicles that God Himself established the choir. A choir is to be set apart for God, pure in faith, filled with anointing, humble, invest time and effort in practice, lead and represent the congregation in praising God and exalting His glory through the worship ministry in church. In 1 Chronicles chapters 16, 25 etc., it is recorded that God, through David, established the choir ministry with musicians taking turns to perform their service. There are many passages in the Bible that remind us of the kind of choir and music ministry that pleases God.

With thankful anticipation, a combined choir will present the “Worship Song” to God on behalf of the congregation in celebration of Kum Yan Church’s 105th Anniversary on 12th March

A choir declares God’s revelation and manifestation through its praises. Revelation 5 displays a spectacular picture of the four living creatures, the twenty-four elders, the saints and the armies of heaven prostrating and praising God who sits on the throne forever. Essentially, the ministry of a choir is to lead the church in offering a sacrifice of praise to the God, establish the order of service, and demonstrate the richness and sacredness of worship. The choir ministry is a special grace from God – to glorify God, carry out priestly duty, and offer thanksgiving and praise to the everlasting God on behalf of all believers.
Dressed in choir robes, a choir leads the procession into and out of the temple. Simply put, a choir leads a praise community or a godly army into God’s temple (or the world), worships and honours God in faith through action, and embraces God’s glorious presence together with His people.
Therefore, choir members must be redeemed and born again believers, who pursue godliness, seek to grow spiritually and be equipped musically, worship God in spirit and in truth, remove pride and self-centredness, exercise spiritual disciplines, lead a Christ-centered life, seek to delight God’s heart, committed to serve God, exercise self-discipline, willing to offer the best to God, walk the talk in daily living, and carry out one’s priestly duty. Choir members dedicate their time to practice together, committed to offer the highest praise to God, and follow King David’s great example of exalting God who is worthy of all glory and all praise!
Choir robes are mainly white in colour, a symbol of holiness, covering, and orderliness. The stole is a symbol of bearing the yoke of Christ, i.e., to obey Christ. Choir members form a community who seek to build up one another, as well as to serve and worship in unity. A choir also has a prophetic role, demonstrating God’s indescribable majesty, glory, fullness, wisdom, power and might, through poetic and musical expressions. A choir also proclaims God’s living truth through songs, and edifies believes through music, that God will be exalted and His people blessed!
God values His people’s worship and praise. He seeks out those who worship Him in spirit and in truth, who love Him with all heart and mind. The choir ministry is a ministry of learning and demonstrating worship through holiness, godliness, commitment, selflessness, unity, discipline, and obedience. It is also a ministry of joy, blessing and glory. In addition, the choir ministry is often the cradle for nurturing and developing believers’ spiritual growth, as well as cultivating and discovering committed ministry leaders and pastors.
With thankful anticipation, a combined choir will present the “Worship Song” to God on behalf of the congregation in celebration of Kum Yan Church’s 105th Anniversary on 12th March. We greatly encourage everyone to participate in this song presentation as our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to God!
