1 Kings 17:2-6
I wonder if the Lord is perhaps also calling us into a time of rehauling our hearts.
Dear KY family,
As you well know by now, we will be starting our major renovation works imminently. Some of the works such as waterproofing and repainting have been long-time coming, with the previous works lasting us for much longer than the expected period – praise God! As we have seen in previous months, there has been increased usage of certain outdoor spaces. This has informed LCEC’s decision to embark on these renovations sooner than later. Please refer to previous weeks’ bulletin for the detailed scope of works to be carried out as part of this renovation project.
As I reflect on our church building going through these renovation works including hacking up the flooring of our basketball court on Level 7, our courtyard on Level 6 and our general office balcony on Level 5, and relaying the bottom-most layers of these areas, I wonder if the Lord is perhaps also calling us into a time of rehauling our hearts.
2 Then the Lord said to Elijah, 3″Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. 4Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.” 5So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook. – 1 Kings 17:2-6
What a wonderful picture of someone who is fully dependent upon God! As God has provided us the resources (finance, expertise and time) to do these renovations, it is time for us as His people to depend upon Him for our very lives. As prophet Elijah looked to God for his daily essentials – food and drink, we too must daily seek the Lord for our own daily bread.
If you have been feeling tired and weary, perhaps it is a good time to slow down and spend some time “hiding away” {v3) with God. Only in Him were we designed to rest and refresh and receive anointing for whatever is ahead.
