Holding Forth the Word of Life

Today is Trinity Theological College Sunday for Mandarin and Cantonese Congregations. It is a day where we invite lecturers from TTC to come and preach, to introduce TTC to our congregations and reaffirm our support to them. Both Rev Stef and myself are theologically trained and equipped in TTC and we are very grateful for our time of spiritual formation during our student days.

As you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. (Phil 2:16)

This year is their 77th Anniversary and their theme is “Holding Forth the Word of Life” based on Philippians 2:16. In this world that is constantly unsettling, with conflicts and tensions all over the world, with fraud and scams so prevalent in the society, with truth being twisted and turned at every corner of the theological debate, it is even more important and critical for us to be “Holding Forth the Word of Life”.
Apostle Paul said this to the church in Philippi, “16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.” His heart is for us to hold forth the Word of Life in the midst of this uncertain world. He also reminds us that the Word of God is also the Word of Life, God’s Words that bring true life to us. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, TTC is famous for its academic rigor which not many people like it. But TTC is always unapologetic about its academic rigor simply because they know that it is truly important to conduct our spiritual formation through academic rigor so that we can truly hold forth the Word of God that brings true life. And it is our determination to hold forth the Word of Life that encourages and affirms them, that they can boast that their labor is not in vain.
Dear Brothers and Sisters-in-Christ, how about you? Are you learning and committing yourself to the academic rigor, so that you can hold forth the Word of Life? Are you part of the Disciple 1 (Red), Disciple 3 (Purple) and Companion-In-Christ classes that both Mandarin and English congregations are conducting? Are you in the Precept classes that English Congregation is conducting? Are you in the Cantonese Sunday School that faithfully teaches the Word of God every Sunday morning? Dear Brothers and Sisters-in-Christ, how about you?
May the LORD help us and give us opportunities to learn deeply in order to hold forth the Word of Life.
