Last quarter of the year

Philippians 3

October 6, 2026

Let us press on toward the prize who is Christ Himself!

Dear KY family,

We have now entered into the last quarter of the year. For many, this is a season of busy-ness as businesses gear toward year-end, and examination period comes upon our younger ones. At this point, some of us may
be feeling tired from the relentless grind of work or study life, or maybe even overwhelmed by some recent unexpected happenings in life.

I want to remind us in this season, especially when we are overwhelmed, to set our hearts upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul writes in his Letter to the Philippians chapter 3,

12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

In a world that goes on and on without an end in sight, it is easy to lose focus on what is most important in life. Apostle Paul reminds us that as long as we are still alive, we are to “lay hold” of Christ. This means that we are to make diligent efforts to know Jesus and to be captivated by who He is.

As we do, we will find the peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), the clarity needed for our next steps (Proverbs 3:5-6), the strength to continue (Psalm 18:2), and the single-mindedness for God’s Kingdom purposes (Philippians 3:14).

The year is not yet over. Let us press on toward the prize who is Christ Himself!
