Go Ye into All the World

Mark 16:15

May 19, 2025

Evangelism is our testimony for the Lord. It enables others to see our good works and give glory to God.

On 4 May, during Kum Yan Church’s Missions Sunday, the Cantonese Worship Team led the congregation in heartfelt thanksgiving and praise to God. Through the song, they stirred the hearts of the disciples to obey the Lord’s command: to go into all the world and preach the gospel. This Great Commission, given by the risen Lord Jesus before His ascension, was entrusted to the Church and believers of every generation. Yet the mission remains unfinished—two-thirds of the world’s population have still not heard the gospel.

“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” (Mark 16:15)

Evangelism is our testimony for the Lord. It enables others to see our good works and give glory to God. It is also the spiritual responsibility of every believer in Christ—an expression of reverence for the Lord, obedience to His command, and a life lived in response to His great love.
The song “Go Ye into All the World”, presented on Missions Sunday, was written in the 1970s. It inspired many young people of that era to dedicate their lives to the Lord, proclaiming the gospel and winning souls for Christ. Decades on, it continues to resonate powerfully. Its lyrics proclaim the life-giving message of God and awaken a deep urgency for evangelism. The first verse and chorus read:
Far, far away, in death and darkness dwelling,
Millions of souls forever may be lost;
Who, who will go, salvation’s story telling,
Looking to Jesus, heeding not the cost?
Chorus:
All pow’r is given unto Me,
All pow’r is given unto Me,
Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel,
And lo, I am with you always.
May the Lord open our spiritual eyes to recognise that many of our pre-believing family and friends still dwell in darkness. Without knowing Jesus, they face eternal separation from God. This is a serious and urgent matter—one that cannot be delayed. It calls for action and sacrifice. We must be willing to give of our time and resources to share the gospel with those around us. Without our witness, they may never have the opportunity to know or receive Jesus, and one day, we may be separated from them for eternity.
May the Lord increase our faith and strengthen our resolve. As we respond to the call of Jesus, we can trust in His promise: He will be with us always, and He will empower us with the authority and strength to share the good news.
Missions Month in May is a timely opportunity for us to be reminded, challenged, and renewed. Let us act now and lead others to Christ!
