For To Us A Child Is Born

Isaiah 9:6

December 23, 2024

Isaiah 9:6 prophesied the birth of the Messiah, which was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa 9:6)

In 2022, during Kum Yan’s Combined Christmas Service, 61 participants—including pastors, leaders, brothers, sisters and 15 children—gathered virtually to present a choir performance. This arrangement was made in response to the ongoing pandemic. The choir sang selections from Handel’s renowned oratorio, including the powerful piece “For to Us a Child is Born”, expressing our gratitude and praise to Jesus Christ, our Saviour, who came down from heaven and became flesh for us. Thank God, it was a beautiful time of worship and service.

Isaiah 9:6 prophesied the birth of the Messiah, which was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He is the Wonderful Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. These names are not only remarkable, but they also reveal His identity, describing His divine nature and essence. No matter the challenges we face in life, He is always the one we can depend on.
For those who do not yet know Jesus, it is simple: repent, acknowledge one’s sins, believe in Jesus, and accept Him as personal Saviour. In doing so, sins are forgiven, a new life begins, and eternal relationship with God is established. This is the gospel we, who know Christ, should joyfully share with others.
For those who already believe in Jesus, Christmas offers us a wonderful opportunity each year to reflect deeply on the significance of Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection in our lives. It is a time to consider how we should respond to God’s incredible gift of salvation, renew our commitment, and realign our focus and purpose.
