The True Value of Humanity

Revisiting the true value of humanity in this technological age.
“In light of the significant changes in our world—such as advancements in science and technology, the breakdown of the biblical family model, and the confusion surrounding gender identity among youth—let us return to the Bible and rediscover the true value of humanity in the age of AI.” (Excerpt from the publicity of the “Gathering Conference” organized by the Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelization, or CCCOWE).
The CCCOWE Gathering Conference invites pastors and leaders of Chinese churches to unite in addressing issues related to God’s family. This conference aims to foster open dialogue and share truths while revisiting the true value of humanity in this technological age.
In the post-pandemic era, we face new norms alongside rapid technological advancements, an unpredictable world, and ongoing gender confusion. These factors have led some to question the inherent value of humanity as God’s creation. The incarnation of our Lord Jesus was intended to redeem fallen humanity, restoring our relationship with God through Him. However, with the rise of AI, the noble value of humanity is being challenged, as technology rapidly evolves. Traditional human labour is increasingly replaced by machines, powerful databases supersede manual operations, and e-books take the place of printed materials.
If we neglect the original value of God’s creation, we risk losing our identity and our God-given purpose. Moreover, we may overlook the importance of evangelism, becoming overwhelmed in these fast-changing times. Let us pray for the Lord’s mercy to keep us alert, reminding us that we are His beautiful creation, imbued with His breath, and called to steward the earth.
