“Tell it, fathers, because God is mighty and real!”

Psalm 78:4

June 18, 2024

Blessed Father’s Day to all fathers!

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4 (ESV)
Following Deuteronomy 6:4-9, parents are commanded to teach the love of God, which included his mighty works and his eternal Word, to our children. Why so? One reason is that the next generation will not forget the wondrous and miraculous deeds God has performed in the lives of His people (Psalm 78:11-12).

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. (Ps 78:4)

Blessed Father’s Day to all fathers! As we celebrate this special day today, I want to urge all fathers to remember this precept, that God is mighty. Before your family celebrate this special day with you at the lunch or dinner table, ask the Lord to help you recall a time when He performed a great deed in your life. Then share it with them and give thanks to God.
Last Monday (June 10th), I was led to meet with one of my men from national Service forty years ago, Kay Siong. As we were sharing our testimonies of God over breakfast, he told me of an incident when he almost lost his life. This happened some 7 years ago. While he was driving his 40-foot container truck out of Keppel dock, he suddenly became breathless and turned cold. He cried out to the Lord, “God, You said call to You and You will answer me…” and then he said, “Lord, help me. If you are willing, let me live. If not, I am willing to go with You.” Slumped on his seat and panicking in his heart, he heard the Lord say to him, “Be still and know that I am God.” Then all of a sudden, he felt the rush of air entering his nostrils. Kay Siong had received the breath of life from the Lord God Almighty. Resuscitated, he immediately reported the incident to his boss and then with tears in his eyes, told of the miracle to his wife, before driving himself to the nearest hospital. Tests by the doctors showed that he was well and good!
So, go tell “the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done”, that your children might not forget the Lord Who is good to you!
