Mid-way mark of 2024

Romans 8:31-35a

June 10, 2024

God wants to remind you that His love for you is steadfast.

We’ve now come almost to the mid-way mark of 2024. Time flies when you’re having fun, but also when you’re busy. (By the end of this month, I would have been a pastor at Kum Yan for one full year.) In my usual spiritual discipline, I like to “take stock” and reflect on life and ministry at regular intervals. I have found this practice to be helpful in my spiritual journey with Jesus. And on many occasions, it has helped me to regain spiritual fervour and stir spiritual hunger for the Lord and His Kingdom.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Rom 8:31)

Therefore, I’d like to invite you at this time coming to the mid-way mark of the year, to pause and reflect. Has your relationship with God grown in the last few months? What new attributes or characteristics of God has He been revealing to you, especially this year? How have you pursued Him, and what are the things He has put in your heart to be accomplished for His glory this year? What has the Lord been wanting to change in you this year, and how has the process of repentance been?
No matter what the answers are to these questions, be encouraged! There is still time this year to draw closer, dig deeper, and be transformed. The Letter to the Romans tells us,
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? – Rom 8:31-35a
Wherever you are in your spiritual journey with Jesus, God wants to remind you that His love for you is steadfast. It has never wavered and it will never give up on you. If you have set your heart and life upon Him, you will soon see that His love is powerful and it is the catalyst for growth and transformation. May you find that refreshment in the Lord this school holiday period!
