Short-term mission trip experience

Philippians 2:5-8

March 30, 2026

Visited seven locations

From 12 to 20 March, I was on a short-term mission trip with the cell group my wife and I belong to, and we have just returned. The schedule was packed, coming just a week after our Church’s 108th Anniversary celebration. Many team members had full commitments, and we did not feel as well prepared as we would have liked. Yet we stepped out in humility and in deep dependence on God.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. (Phil 2:5)

Over the course of the trip, we visited seven locations and served across twelve ministry points including two churches, two rehabilitation centres, a mission organisation, two student care centres, two childcare centres, a tuition centre, and several fellowship gatherings. We ministered to children, orphans and the sick, conducted personal hygiene talks for young girls, and prayed with pastors and ministry workers in need of encouragement.
Looking back, we are deeply grateful. The journey was marked not only by God’s grace and protection, but also by a strong sense of unity within the team. Though our practical preparation may have been limited, we found ourselves spiritually ready and able to respond with sensitivity and faith to each situation. Many returned with hearts stirred and lessons that will stay with us.
In this season, as we enter Holy Week, may we take time to pause and remember the suffering and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is not merely a time to attend programmes, but an invitation to draw near to Him. May we each prepare our hearts, reflecting daily on the Gospel accounts and walking with Jesus— step by step — on His journey to the Cross.
Scripture reminds us in Philippians 2:5-8:
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!”
