Digital Missions: Missions in the 4th Era
May 5, 2025

Today, the harvest isn’t just in distant villages—it’s on our screens.

Dear Church Family,
This Missions Sunday, we stand at the threshold of a new frontier—one that is reshaping how we fulfill the Great Commission. Our theme, “Digital Missions: Missions in the 4th Era,” reflects a pivotal moment in history. Just as the printing press, radio, and television once revolutionized evangelism, we now live in the digital era—where the Gospel can cross borders, languages, and barriers with a single click.
The Harvest is Digital
Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37). Today, the harvest isn’t just in distant villages—it’s on our screens. Over 4.9 billion people use the internet, and among them are millions who have never heard the name of Jesus. They scroll through social media, search for meaning, and long for hope. God is calling us to meet them there.
This isn’t just for the “tech-savvy.” It’s for every believer. Whether you’re a student, a working professional, or a retiree, you have a role to play. The question is about being willing. If you have a phone, a voice, or even a story to share—you have something God can use.
Equipping You for the Task
To help you step into this mission, we’ve prepared practical workshops designed for everyday disciples:

Digital Missions 101: Discover how God is moving online and how you can join Him.
Digital Tools for Daily Evangelism: Simple tools and ideas for weaving faith into your digital conversations.
Digital Identity: Learn how to live—and share—your faith authentically in a digital world.

These aren’t just classes—they’re opportunities to discover your voice in a digital world. Come not just to listen, but to engage. You’ll leave equipped to pray, post, and proclaim Christ in ways you never imagined, ready to serve where people are already gathered—online.
A Call to Open Hearts
Some of us may hesitate: “I don’t understand technology,” or “I’m not sure how this fits my faith.” But remember—the disciples didn’t know how to feed 5,000 either. They simply brought what they had, and Jesus multiplied it.
Bring your willingness. Bring your questions. Bring your small “loaves and fish,” and watch what God does. This is about faith, not expertise. The early church turned the world upside down without social media—imagine what God can do with it when we surrender it to Him!
Let’s Rise Together
Missions Sunday isn’t just a day—it’s a launchpad and an invitation. Whether through a prayer you post, a conversation you start online, or a missionary you support digitally, you are part of God’s plan to reach the nations.
So let’s step into this 4th Era of Missions with expectancy. Let’s pray boldly. Learn eagerly. And go—digitally and passionately—into all the world. The mission is still the same. The tools have changed.
Your mission starts now.
With love and expectation,

Rev James Chan
