Matthew 5:14–16

Together, let’s shine brightly for Christ, bringing hope and light to our community.
As we come to the end of March, we’ve spent time reflecting on God’s faithfulness, celebrating our anniversary, and looking forward with hope. Now, it’s time to focus on how we can live out our faith in practical ways. As a church, we are called not only to gather within these walls but also to go out and be a light in our community.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:14–16, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Being the Light
Light dispels darkness. It brings clarity, warmth, and hope. As followers of Christ, we are called to be His light in a world that often feels dark and broken. This means living in a way that reflects His love, grace, and truth. Whether it’s through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or simply being present for someone in need, we have the opportunity to shine brightly for Christ.
Serving Our Community
One of the most powerful ways we can be a light is by serving our community. Jesus modeled a life of service, and He calls us to do the same. This could look like volunteering at local organizations, hosting outreach events, or simply being a good neighbor. When we serve others, we demonstrate the love of Christ in tangible ways, opening doors for meaningful conversations and relationships.
Sharing the Gospel
While serving and loving others is vital, we must also remember that the greatest gift we can offer is the Gospel. Being a light means sharing the hope of Jesus with those who don’t yet know Him. This doesn’t always require grand gestures; sometimes, it’s as simple as sharing your story or inviting someone to church. Let’s be intentional about looking for opportunities to share the Good News.
A Call to Action
This week, let’s challenge ourselves to live as a light in our community. Pray for opportunities to serve and share the Gospel. Look for ways to bless those around you, whether it’s a coworker, neighbor, or stranger. And remember, even small acts of kindness can have a big impact when done in Jesus’ name. Together, let’s shine brightly for Christ, bringing hope and light to our community.
Blessings.
